Kelo, snag or dead wood is a tree without bark, dried up on the root in natural conditions. The age of the tree reaches 300-500 years, depending on the diameter. The tree fell asleep, but under the influence of the sun, rains and long winter cold, it has unique properties: it has become super-strong and hard as a stone. This is especially true for trees grown in the North of Karelia, with which we work!
Finding Kelo pines is not so easy: they make up only 1-3% of the total number of trees in the forest. In addition, they usually grow in hard-to-reach thickets and swamps, so special equipment is needed for harvesting. The most important thing is that kelo is chopped only in winter to preserve all the useful properties. Therefore, the price of such wood is 30% higher than that of ordinary wood. But houses made of kelo-pine are the most eco—friendly of all wooden ones.
Health is worth it!
The natural texture of the wood and the healing smell of pine resin will remain for many years.
Untreated walls are "breathing" which guarantee optimal humidity in the room, and the rough surface of the wood cleans the air from dust.
Houses made of kelo do not shrink, they are very strong and durable, they will stand without repair for up to 100 years!
Kelo-pine buildings do not need to be painted or treated with chemicals, so they are super-eco-friendly and hypoallergenic.
